How do you get a job in the creative/entertainment industry?

Dave asked:

I’ve been trying to get a job in the creative/entertainment industry for quite a while now. But all the positions require at least 3-5 years of experience. Being only a recent college graduate I do not have much professional experience, but I have all the skills required for the industry.

So, how do you convince an employer to take a chance on someone who does not have the experience?

Or does anyone know of any companies looking for a Digital Artist, 3D Artist, or 3D Generalist??
Also, I do have an online portfolio.

The best thing i can think of is for you to do some work of your own and make a portolio, especially if you’re keen to do digital art.
Once you have a portfolio, you can prove your skills.
The way i get jobs is to say i’ll do a weeks work at their company for free if they’ll just give me a chance,
that way you have 7 days to really impress them and show your dedication!
    hope this helps!

Your work / portfolio will speak for itself. If your work shows the high standard a potential employer is looking for, then you will have a chance. Your recently out of college, so start looking for entry level positions in the type of industry/company your looking to break into. Things are tough right now, but quality work will shine through so show your stuff!
