What do you do in an audition in macker entertainment?
dj_katiie asked:
I’ve been wanting to be an actress since a long time and be on disneychannel. Everday I would imagine myself on disneychannel. I would always research almost all of the disneychannelstars and read about them. If anyone knows macker entertainment can you tell me what you are suposed to do in an audition. If you dont know can someone tell me what you do in an audition to be in disneychannel.

Not to burst the bubble or anything, but I looked at that website for them, and they’ll do about as much for your career as John Robert Powers (JRP) which is to say very, very little. They boast about how their teachers are working actors, but these working actors have extremely few (some only have one) credits on imdb.com And yes, imdb.com is used by true industry professionals. I’ll bet you could pick some random character out of movie, find out who played that character in the credits, and they would have more verifiable credits than these teachers. I’d stay away. Use your money more effectively by doing a little homework and find out who the good children’s acting coaches are. If you don’t know how, shoot me a message and I’ll let you know. But study under someone who really IS a working actor. For example, my acting coach may not be at my class next monday as he is filming on Cold Case. If you look him up in imdb.com, you’d find quite a few credits. Don’t waste time with the other as one or two credits may make you an actor, but you’re not a working actor by any stretch of the imagination.
What is going to get you to be able to audition for disney is good headshots, a developing resume (which means doing any acting you can like student films, and community theatre), and good training. This will help you land a good agent who will get you those auditions.
My son use to go here. I have two things to tell you about Macker. FIRST GOOD:
just kidding there is no good…
I have 3 children who auditioned and only he was accepted. It would be hard to sucker a family into saying “all your kids have a look or have the it factor!” They gave the children a small little script to remember and he was the only one enthusiastic about it. So they only wanted to accept him. They flat out said it would be better for them so they could take credit for him being a star if it went that far! Also we have no credit cards, we paid cash all the time. They worked with us as far as a down payment and monthly payments. It’s not like they could bind us to any repeated credit bills, we used cash. Their are students that go there who have been in big name movies like Santa Clause 3……
BAD:
but they got the parts on their own. Macker does not get you parts, jobs or any sort of work, they just give you classes like you can get at a rec. center or what not. I have no idea what sort of things my son does in class they never keep you updated informed or anything like that. They keep you informed of when you need to pay. That is the only time I ever got calls or info from them. They are always having different teachers because the teachers that come thru get jobs and quit. My son did not seem motivated when he came out of class. We were paying a total of almost $3,000 for the 2 years of classes!!!!!!!!!!!!! They should not be your first choice, also they have had a complaint against them with the B.B.B. but they resolved the matter so again, keep looking.
Before you listen to advice from those who lack known credits or have any visable business in the entertainment industry, it’s always best to do some homework on your part. Avoid those who hide behind internet curtains. Most of these disgruntled people are old and their careers never happened. I would suggest for young people to avoid those negative nay sayers. “Follow your bliss” as Joseph Campbell would say. Don’t let them talk you out of your aspirations. Go check out the training studios for yourself. And most importantly, don’t let these nay sayers tell you that all you need is a headshot and list of Hollywood agents. That’s total boloney!! That’s like saying that all a doctor needs is a stethoscope and some bandaids, and their in business. Some of your best actors in Hollywood come from the best universities in this country. Without training you are on thin ice. Remember, as they say in Hollywood, life is not a dress rehersal. Just do it!!
